What We Believe
Marvelous Light Church Beliefs And Core Values
Jesus is Lord
We believe in one true God who reveals Himself through three distinct persons: The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit. These three are united in essence, co-equal, and co-eternal.
Jesus Christ, the Son of God, became flesh and dwelt among us. We affirm the divinity of Jesus and recognize that all authority belongs to Him. He is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
Core values
Grace: The Foundation of Our Identity
We believe that God’s grace is His unmerited favor toward us, but it is also His divine influence and empowerment. Through grace, God has already provided everything we need in Christ—salvation, healing, provision, and the power to live victorious lives. It is by grace that we are saved, and it is by grace that we are empowered to walk in the fullness of God's promises. Additionally, grace is the foundation of our identity. Through Christ’s finished work, we have been made new creations—fully righteous and complete in Him. Our identity is rooted in who God says we are, not in our past or failures. We are now sons and daughters of God, fully accepted and empowered to live according to His will (Ephesians 2:8-9, 2 Corinthians 5:17, Titus 2:11, Romans 5:20).

Growing in Purpose
While grace has already provided everything we need—salvation, healing, provision, and more—faith is the means by which we access what grace has already made available. Faith is not something we grow in but something we learn to use because we already have the faith of Christ within us. Faith is the key to receiving the fullness of what Christ has already provided for us (Romans 5:2, Galatians 2:20, Hebrews 11:1, 2 Corinthians 5:7).
The early church was a community of believers who supported and encouraged one another in their faith. As a small group, we are called to create a loving and supportive environment where people can grow spiritually and experience the power of God’s love (Acts 2:42-47, Hebrews 10:24-25, 1 Corinthians 12:12-14, Romans 12:5).
Jesus came to heal the brokenhearted, restore the sick, and set the captives free. We believe that healing is part of the salvation package, and it is God's will for His people to walk in wholeness. As believers, we also have been given authority in Christ to overcome the works of the enemy, including sickness, lack, and oppression. This authority empowers us to stand firm against the forces of darkness and claim victory in every area of our lives (Isaiah 61:1, Luke 10:19, James 5:14-15, 1 Peter 2:24).
Every great work starts with small beginnings. We believe that God will expand our influence and impact as we stay faithful with what we have and grow steadily in grace, faith, and maturity (Zechariah 4:10, Matthew 13:31-32, Luke 16:10).
Jesus calls us to be the light of the world, and we are specifically called to shine as a "marvelous light" (1 Peter 2:9). Matthew 5:14-16 reminds us that a city on a hill cannot be hidden, and neither should our light. Our mission is to impact Jacksonville by sharing the love of Christ, meeting needs, and demonstrating God’s power through healing, provision, and acts of kindness (1 Peter 2:9, Matthew 5:14-16, Philippians 2:15).
Every believer is called and equipped to fulfill their purpose in Christ. We believe in the vital role of the Holy Spirit in empowering believers for victorious living, guiding them into all truth, and equipping them for service through the gifts of the Spirit (1 Corinthians 12). The Holy Spirit enables us to live godly lives and manifests His power through the gifts He gives to each believer for the benefit of the body of Christ and the world (Ephesians 4:11-12, 1 Corinthians 12:7-11, Romans 8:11, John 14:26).
Preparing for Expansion: Growing Beyond Our Walls
As we grow, we believe that God will open doors for us to expand our reach and influence. As we remain faithful, we will grow into a church that will make a greater impact, not only in Jacksonville but throughout Florida and the world (Matthew 28:19, Acts 1:8, Isaiah 54:2-3).
